I totally agree with Harish and anybody who would not want to go with a
lower cost for the same service does not have much business sense.
Opensrs (we) are (I think) the third largest registrar of domain names in
the world. They appear to make $4.00 profit per registration and probably
register many
hundreds of thousands per month. The profit margin is obscene, especially
when taken into the context of the unilateral change of terms re the
rebate for those who provide Tucows mirrors.
Think about the renewals next year ....
How about opensrs being really open and publishing their accounts and
statistics and sharing profits with all resellers in the form of rebates,
otherwise I agree that if enough of us get together and form a cooperative
then it should not be too hard to get ICANN approval and put a server
together.
Maybe we could have tags that mean you only need to edit details
once to change contact details on a number of domains, maybe we could
choose whether we or our customers have control of the domain, maybe we
could cancel domain registration if we didnt get paid by the customer
Regards
Lance
