It's 7:30am. Do you know where your servers are?

Hi all,

It might be easier than you think to add redundancy to your services.

It's been a few months since I've posted anything, here. As always,
we've been cutting here, growing there, and blowing bits out of more
line cards than ever. :-)

SaskNow Technologies is a small OpenSRS reseller in Canada (one of the
first), and, after almost four years in the hosting biz, we've grown in
every positive respect that I could hope for. We're still small, though,
and I definitely remember what it was like to be even smaller.

We've been doing dedicated hosting for over a year now, and have built a
set of reliable services around that. We're also quite heavily into the
shared and managed markets (since 1999), all of which have combined to
really smooth out our traffic.

Our most successful dedicated offering to date (on this list, anyway),
has been simple low-traffic co-location, which RSPs have used for
secondary services, lightly loaded primary services, increased
redundancy, and even small off-site data backups.

Without hardware, our co-lo starts in the range of CA$100/month
(approximately US$68.50, based on current exchange) for a standard
server, 10GB of traffic, static IP (and reverse DNS), UPS feed,
guaranteed uptime, free reboots, and free monitoring (basic IP
monitoring, as well as TCP/IP services). Setup fees depend on a few
factors, but are typically about CA$100. That's our definition of "entry
level"; we can certainly include more.

If you don't have a ready vendor for the hardware (or if you'd rather
not worry about shipping), we can sell you the server(s) at or at least
very near our cost (starting at under $1000CAD/$685US). Going this route
helps ensure that you'll have in-house warranty and tech expertise, in
the event that something of importance goes *poof* in the night. :-)

And, if you just don't have the time to administer (another!) server, we
also offer an expert array of partially or fully managed UNIX services
with senior admins, which I'd be happy to discuss and quote on. So,
everything from keeping the OS current, or helping out on a one-off
basis, to actually administering a production server. Tell us what you
want, and we'll make it so!

We know how your business works, and have a pretty good idea of what it
is you'll need. We'd never interfere with your business, because a) we
just wouldn't, and b) that would hurt *our* business.

So, if you'd like to learn more, please send me an email. I've been told
recently (by an employee, no less) that I have a talent for being "both
blunt and loquacious at the same time." I *think* it was meant as a
compliment... :-)

Thanks!
- Ryan
