To give you an idea of cost, the system we use currently occupies 3
dedicated server.

1 for Mysql back end (it sounds rather like the PowerDNS one but ours was
written independently)
1 DNS server in London UK
1 DNS server in USA

We can easily add additional name servers and I am intending to get a cheap
Rackshack server and
one from another cheap provider to give us two additional ones on other
networks.

Since we changed our DNS system we have not had a single DNS related
reliability problem.

If you used places like Rackshack and Nocster you could run a system kike
this for $300 a month
if you got close out servers (you dont need anything fancy, hardware wise)
