1...Yes you have the exact same record format that NSI uses and can put
whatever information you need in those fields. There is also a web interface
that domain customers can access with a user name and password for that
domain that will allow them to change anything in that domain record that
they need to change.
2...If you want to move a domain from one registrar to another this is a
completely manual process until the last few days in which ICANN started an
automated process. The problem right now is what procedures should be used
to verify that it is the domain holder requesting the domain transfer and
not someone else playing games. We will have to wait a bit to see what
OpenSRS comes up with for procedures for this process to verify the domain
holder.
3...As long as the DNS server is listed as a registered host in the master
host file and the forms were filled out correctly at one time for this you
can use any DNS server you want that is legal. If the host isn't registered
currently then you will have to fill out the forms for that domain to
register a host. If the domain is an OpenSRS domain there are web forms that
the domain customer can fill out in their domain management interface to do
that.
