Look at the manage.cgi script. All of the functions you need should
already be there. Just write your own custom script to do this.

This would be a good idea. While they are at it, they should also add
inquiries to grab statistics (registered domains, years, pending domains,
etc.) and RCU's remaining, etc. This would really help us automate
our auditing processes.

This should not be a function of a domain registrar. You should handle
something like this yourself.

should handle this yourself. This is where you add value to a domain
registration.
