Hi Ken,
We looked at using the affiliate field for other purposes than just keeping an affiliate number. The problem we ran into was that you can set this during initial registration, but there is no interface available in order to be able to edit/modify this value once set. Best solution we've found is to keep a limited local database. There are issues with keeping your local database in sinc with the OpenSRS database. If you've found or find a better way, I'd be glad to hear it;)
