I'm running Perl 5.005 on freebsd.
The IP is in the access list. The id/key are the same as used on my current
production/test scripts.
But, I think you've anwered my question in that this cannot be reproduced on
your system using the distributed scripts. I'll start the funn process of
breaking down the scripts to debug to the root cause.
By the way, I am using the v2.2-prerelease scripts. Is the same distribution
as the v2.2-beta?

This can also mean that the IP address you're accessing the system from
isn't allowed by the system - the port opens and then immediately closes
with an "Invalid IP" address (not in XML format) and the client code
returns that error message.
As for you uninitialized value at... errors - I'm wondering what version
of Perl you're running? I've not been able to duplicate that error using
several different installations (Perl 5.004 to 5.6 on Linux, and
ActivePerl <er..version?>).
What OS and Perl version are you running?
