You can renew once the domain is active in the OpenSRS system - but you
cannot add over 10 years.
So - if the domain had 1 year and 9 months BEFORE the transfer, it would
have 2 years and 9 months afterwards. You could only add an addition 7
years (for a total of 9 years 9 months) - an 8 year renewal would place it
over the 10 year limit.
Aside from that - you can add as many years (up to 10) you want once the
transfer is completed.
