Benjamin,
Try running verify_install.cgi from the command line and see if it works (just drop out to the directory where it lives and run "perl verify_install.cgi")
If it does, check your web server to make sure that IUSR_[machinename] has read privilege to this file:
c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\protocol
If not,
cacls c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc /t /e /g IUSR_[machinename]:r
should do the trick
Let me know if this resolves the problem. (Credit goes to Jeffrey Kirk who ferretted this one out and let me know about it for the HOWTO guide that's published at http://www.atlcon.net/opensrs/nt-howto.htm)

Subject: ERROR: Unable to establish Socket
Does anyone know why this may be happening. I am running NT 4.0 with activestate build 618 version 5.6 and have generated a new private key and have the servers on the horizons.opensrs.org settings and still I get this:
ERROR: Unable to establish Socket
Everything else comes back fine on the verify_install.cgi located at:
http://www.micn.net/cgi-bin/verify_install.cgi
Can anyone help.
Thanks,
Ben
