We agree 100%. Further, it could be easy for the client to be confused --
thinking that it did not matter where he executed the renewal -- with the
reasoning that since it is still our Registrar we still get credit for the
renewal . . . .

It is not like the RSP's have totally branded this product -- particularly
when OSRS/TUCOWS is contacting our customers directly in their own name and
with their own return address. We're not comfortable with the direct
contact concept for other reasons, which have already been voiced/discussed
by others and us on this list serve, but never-the-less continues to be the
prevailing practice.

We think OSRS/TUCOWS has a responsibility to help the acquiring RSP
maintain persistency as opposed to the current concept where OSRS/TUCOWS
wins regardless of what happens to the RSP who brought the customer on
board in the first place. Saying that it is an RSP problem with his
customer seems rather disingenuous. Why not dance with the one who brung
ya, rather then setting the stage for a skirmish among your allies?
