I don't understand why such reasonable logic as this has been met with
hostility. IMO, you are 100% correct, the API is so close to XML-RPC
that the engineers seem almost prescient. Now this is a good thing in
that modifying it to operate as a web service over SOAP/SSL is not a
major undertaking. I am not suggesting any changes to the existing API
for those who are happy as is and never had. I'm a zealot, no doubt,
for XWS and my attempt to generate a technical/philosophical discussion
of the merits has devolved into personal attacks and even Microsoft
bashing. This is too bad, because we all are in this together to improve
OpenSRS.
