Assuming, of course that the whole challenge-response thing is a good idea.
There are lots of good ideas for fighting spam, and there are quite a few that are pretty broken. This is one of them.
A better idea would be to get one of the (your expletive here) who perpetrate this kind of garbage, take 'em to Interop, or CES, rent a booth, get a bunch of Plastic baseball bats, and charge $1/swing, or 3 swings for $5.
But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
