The ante is currently $250 for client and $500 for web-based registration,
which feels about right to me. It is enough to keep out the most casual
onlooker but low enough to give anyone a chance to be a reseller if they
wish. Your post seems to agree this number is acceptable... I see no need
to call for a higher initial RCU funding.

If you are indeed adding value then you need not worry about customers
coming to OpenSRS directly. Those who perceive value in what you offer will
come to you.
Actually I think the point is moot, there are those among us that intend to
offer registration for minimal markup, maybe even at cost to get some other
business or good will. I have already seen an Open SRS reseller that has
gone live at $12.50/yr. The genie is out of the bottle.
