In the last week, I have completed installations on WindowsNT, FreeBSD, and
RedHat Linux 6.1.
On the NT box, the documentation provided at
http://www.atlcon.net/opensrs/nt-howto.htm was extremely helpful, and well
written.
We went with ActivePerl 522 (http://www.activestate.com) rather than the
latest version, and pretty much followed the instructions provided in the
howto.
The FreeBSD installation was painful to say the least. After downloading,
then installing the required modules, we ran into some troubles with the
OpenSRS.pm script. I went on to install the modules locally, including CBC
1.23, inserted a use statement into OpenSRS.pm and the verify_install.cgi
bombed. The client functions fine, however. I imagine it is something with
the verify script that deceives me into thinking the system was not setup
properly.
Finally, the RedHat system was flawless, inlcuding the new Blowfish module,
which seems a bit faster than DES.
Just wondering if anyone else had similar observations.
