You were using Network Solutions Registrar's whois. That is completely
different from the registry/Internic whois which "99.99% of the net word
is familiar with." The registry whois can be accessed by many different
domains with whois.internic.net being the default in all of the legacy
whois apps, others are nsiregistry.net, crsnic.net, etc.
