Re: renewals when process orders immediately is turned off...

I like the idea of an auto-renew flag, but I think it should be a trigger
for either an email request to the owning RSP, or perhaps the submission of
an order to be processed by the RSP (either manually or via automated
process implemented by the RSP), as opposed to a "done-deal" irreversible
registry transaction.

Me thinks this should be set up just like a new order. Yes its nice to
auto renew, but what if the clients credit card has expired? Or they have
decided to go off the net and don't need the domain anymore? I think we are
setting ourselves up for a potentially large problem here.

PLEASE do not auto renew domains. Especially if there is a potential to
loose money because the client has not entered in new credit card info.

No. Currrently renewals are instant, regardless of what the process orders
immediately flag is set to. The idea is apparently to restrict access to
renew.cgi, or modify it to include payment processing.

It is not obvious to me how to implement payment processing if the
"auto-renew" flag is set, especially since it can be set by any RSP's
renew.cgi script, even if the domain name is not one of "theirs".
