That might be the new authentication approach to use. A person could
enter the serial number from their dollar and then mail it in. When matched
up, the registry knows they have synced up with some real individual.
Of course, now with the snail male being suspect, it looks like the plastic
money will prevail.
Who knows how it will turn out....?
