The problem is the number of customers it costs, often either by false
promises or misinformation, or simply by annoying customers into leaving.

At the ISP I work for, our info@ customer.service@ and similar addresses
account for almost half of the messages we receive on a daily basis. It
literally impedes business, and costs us actual money in terms of manpower
to delete it.
