RE: .name delay?

We got a more official announcement today (imagine that!)

Basically things are working like this:

Timetable for updates to DNS

During the first week after Live SRS launch, domain names registrations or
updates will resolve only after going through data integrity checking, and
will resolve as following:

Operations completed by 23:00 UTC on Thursday 27 June - resolves on Monday 1
July.

Operations completed by 23:00 UTC Monday 1 July - resolves on Wednesday 3
July.

Operations completed by 23:00 UTC Wednesday 3 July - resolves on Friday 5
July.

Operations completed by 23:00 UTC Friday 5 July - resolves on Monday 8 July.

Beginning Monday 8 July, registrations and updates to domain names will
resolve within 24 hours.
Near real time updates of DNS will be initiated a few weeks after launch.
The date and time will be communicated to EPP Registrars in advance.

Timetable for updates to MX servers for E-mail forwarding

Changes to e-mail forwarding services will in the period June 27-July 17
take effect according to the DNS timetable (as detailed above). After this
data validation ramp-up period, updates will be made in near-real time. This
is summarized as follows:
June 27 - July 8: 48 hours update time
July 8 - July 17: 24 hours update time
July 17 onwards: updates in near real time

Near real time means that most registrations and updates will be reflected
in the mx servers within minutes. However, for email addresses on a second
level that has not previously existed, the email will not be functional
until DNS has been updated with the new second level domain.
