You might want to consider installing a copy of the GeekTools proxy CGI
on your own server. That way your connections to the OpenSRS WHOIS server
aren't mixed with everyone else's.

We did this and it works nicely.

(I personally would like to see OpenSRS do *more* rate limiting of the
WHOIS, because it would prevent DRoA, etc. from harvesting so many
addresses.)
