I try to do a who-is and get this:

Domain names in the .com, .net, and .org domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.
Domain Name: XXX.COM
Registrar: ONLINENIC, INC.
Whois Server: whois.OnlineNIC.com
Referral URL: http://www.OnlineNIC.com
Name Server: NS1.XXX.Com
Name Server: NS2.XXX.Com
Updated Date: 12-feb-2002
Last update of whois database: Sun, 29 Dec 2002 16:57:45 EST
The Registry database contains ONLY .COM, .NET, .ORG, .EDU domains and
Registrars.

See what I mean? I can't make sure they do own it before sending a transfer
request. They own many domains and they have messed up before and said they
owned one that they didn't so I like to verify them before sending the
request. This is a corporate account so I handle them all myself.... I this
legal? We are a registrar with several registries and if this is legal what
is to stop us from shutting ours down too ????
Thanks for any input....
