A domain in expiry has a different status than a typical lock, called
REGISTRAR HOLD. This does lock the domain similar to REGISTRAR LOCK which
you have access to, but it also stops the domain from resolving.
Therefore, a renewal of an expired domain will have this status removed, but
a renewal of a domain during the paid period that is locked will not affect
the lock status as far as .Com and .Net is concerned. .Info, .Biz, and I
believe .Org are a little different in that they require an unlock before
they may be renewed.

Subject: RWI renewal unlocks domain
I'm not sure about variations to this
scenario but I think unlocking as a result
of renewal is new:
-Domain expires, is deactivated and
automatically unlocked by system.
-Lock the expired domain.
-Renew the domain via the RWI.
-The domain is renewed and *unlocked*.
If a domain is active and locked, does
renewing via RWI unlock it?
