RE: Looking for all options...

The private label functionality we provide as well as being a supplier that
is dedicated to wholesale definitely benefits any outsourcing aspect of your
business, but this also depends on your business model and personal
perspective.

Some people feel that domains are not central and merely complimentary to
their "Bread and Butter" services such as hosting or connectivity or design
etc... These companies do not necessarily care about anything other than
price, decide that they want a hands off approach internally, and do not
care who the provider is so they may focus on these higher revenue
generating activates.

Unfortunately I feel that domains are central to any of these other
associated services, and if you have domains registered with registrars that
generate most of their revenue competing with you for your clients including
in most cases offering these bread and butter services on a retail level,
you do take a significant risk in losing all of the hard work you put in on
a client by client basis and you should do your due diligence in ensuring
that they do not have a track record or history of making "mistakes" with
clients of other resellers of theirs.

Without a domain, clients who come to you not so much for connectivity
unless they use you for email, but more hosting / web design / consultation
become a tough sale since it is like having someone sell you furniture and
an office space without the capability for a client accessible entrance or
telephone number. These other bread and butter services require your control
of their domain not only for your client relationship protection, but also
affording you the ability to be the only line of communication for all of
their digital services needs.

Therefore you could conclude that if you were to offer this service at all
you would choose an avenue that best suits a private label reseller model,
and although maybe a little more of an investment in terms of time and
implementation on the front end which we would help you with out of the
account management department, it does make logical sense to take a reseller
path as opposed to using just an affiliate structure that does not
necessarily afford the flexibility to adapt to your own unique business
model and the protection of your clients from a direct competitor.

Message me off-list with your contact info, I would like to delve deeper
into how we may benefit your efforts.

Hi Mark

you could look at it this way
for $250 US you get 25 domain registrations/transfers and the ability to try
the Live reseller web interface for yourself
I think you will find yourself empowered re the domain piece of your
business.
The toughest part will be making it "Live" on your site.
(not too tough though)

affiliate deals always run the risk of someone else soliciting your
customers with their product/service offerings.

Good Luck

Subject: Looking for all options...

Hello,

I am new to this discussion list, but I have been an
avid reader for some time. I really enjoy the
discussions and wealth of information I find here. I
am thinking of adding registration services to my ISP
site that is scheduled to be launched in June and I am
considering all options. I don't know if I want to go
with an affiliate-based service or if I want to go
with more of the SRS model. I know that I will
inevitably get a lot of "go with OpenSRS post, but I
am really looking to get a varied response. Your input
would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Mark Richards
