.CC Premium Names

I tried to register a .CC domain. Whois shows no record found, but when I tried
to register it I got "Domain taken."

Then I went to http://www.enic.cc and checked the domain, and I got the
following:

".cc premium names are generic words and phrases, and one-, two-, and
three-character domain names that are registered at prices higher than the
standard $50 annual fee."

Is it possible to register .cc premium domains w/ OpenSRS, or only through eNic
(Verisign). I thoroughly dislike having a domain tied to a particular registrar,
especially Versign.
