Can an OpenSRS reseller set registration policies that allow the
reseller to define additional criteria which would warrant suspension or
de-registration of a domain?
In particular, is it possible for a reseller to abude by the MAPS
guidelines at http://mail-abuse.org/rbl/candidacy.html#ByAssociation ?
I've just been approached by a prospective customer who would like to
move a number of domains to a new registrar, and one of his criteria is
a "firm stance on spam" by which he appears to mean that he doesn't want
it possible for his new registrar to be a haven for spam domains. We
have policies at http://www.it.ca/about/aup that define how we handle
*hosted* services, but can such policies be extended to registrations?
If not, Tucows needs to provide some mechanism to allow an RSP to "hide"
the reseller contact information on domains that will generate this sort
of negative attention. If we're not able to suspend service on the
basis of policy violation, we absolutely need a way to disassociate
ourselves from the violator. It hasn't come up for us yet because we
take very very few orders over the web, but I'd much rather solve this
this before it happens than have to deal with the fallout.
