No, I think it is simply bad business for Tucows to do this, and I think
it is bad business for the differentiated resellers to support Tucows
while Tucows is doing things that devalue their companies.
Why should those of us who face a significant loss of what distinguishes
us from the rank masses of tech ignorant "marketing organizations" who
do little more than put up the stock OpenSRS client scripts and sell for
$1 over cost, when there are options from other wholesalers where our
money won't go to supporting that business model?
Tucows is basically slapping the face of those resellers who have the
technical know how to differentiate themselves from the resellers who
can do little more than install a set of scripts on their web server.
Now, maybe the sheer volume of the "marketing organization" type
resellers is enough that the loss of those resellers won't hurt their
bottom line. I would think with their stock price being where it is,
that they would be much more concerned over a number of large resellers
saying point blank on a publicly archived list that this is a deal
killer type encroachment. And one that I predicted would come and
continue when the email service was first mentioned. But back then I
was willing to take the implied assurance Tucows had given to all of us
in previous discussions that they wouldn't do this. We should have
demanded a more firm assurance then. Right now I feel we were deceived,
intentionally.
Do YOU know what a 302 response is, Dennis?
