If Gandi is offering additional services, then by definition it doesn't
qualify for category #1. In fact, since some people reselling domain names
offer such services for a fee, Gandi is potentially competing
against resellers by offering for nothing what the would otherwise
charge for.
Now does such an accusation sound absurd? Sure, but that what the original
poster was complaining about(not necessarily those services in particular,
but rather any perceived competition with the registrar.)
