Registrant vs. Domain Owner vs. Profile

What constitutes "ownership" of a domain in the OpenSRS system? From the
domain management interface, I can apparently have different Organizational
contacts for the domains within an OpenSRS login profile. In a standard WHOIS,
this Organizational contact appears under the "Registrant" heading, which I
assume is intended to be the domain owner.
