Thanks for making the point I didn't make very clear. It *is* a tiny
step in the right direction. But, on an absolute basis, ICANN is still
a complete failure, and has a long way to go to gain any credibility.
On a relative basis, NSI is supposedly better today than they were a
couple of years ago. But, does anyone dispute they're amongst the worst
registrars even today?
Same with ICANN. If we hold them simply to relative standards of past
mediocrity, that's a disservice. They should be held to external
absolute standards of excellence and efficacy. Even in Twomey's letter
to VeriSign, he's hinting that he'll fast-track approval of WLS and any
other VeriSign proposals -- not a good sign.
